The Google Business Profile Photos That Actually Get Calls
By Mohamed Eltoukhy, founder of EVOGENCY ·
When someone looks at a business on Google Maps, their eyes go to the photos first. Before they read the reviews, before they check your hours, they're forming an opinion based on what they see. A profile with a blurry logo and one old storefront picture loses to a profile that shows real work and real people.
Here's how to choose photos that make people want to call.
Show the work
The most persuasive photos show what customers will get. For trades, that's finished jobs and before and after pairs. For restaurants, it's the actual dishes. For salons and med spas, it's the space and, with permission, results. For any business, it's proof that you do what you say.
Take these photos yourself, on real jobs, with your phone. Real beats polished here. Customers can spot stock photography instantly, and it makes them wonder what you're hiding.
Show the people
People hire people. A photo of your team in uniform next to a branded truck, or a smiling front desk, tells a customer who will actually show up. If you're a solo operator, a friendly photo of you on the job does the same thing.
Show where you are or what you drive
If customers visit you, add exterior photos that help them recognize the building from the street, plus interior photos of the waiting area or showroom. If you visit customers, show your vehicles so homeowners know what to look for in their driveway.
Post steadily
A profile that only got photos the week it was created looks abandoned. Add a few new photos every week or two from recent jobs. It keeps the profile current for customers, and an active profile simply looks more trustworthy.
What to avoid
Avoid stock photos and photos that are mostly text, like flyers or coupons. Avoid showing customer house numbers, license plates, or faces without permission. Avoid heavy filters that make results look better than they really are. That creates disappointed customers, and disappointed customers write reviews.
Also keep an eye on customer uploaded photos. Customers can add photos to your profile too. Most are helpful, but if something is inappropriate or not about your business, you can report it to Google.
Get the basics right
Upload a clear logo and a cover photo that represents your business well. Make sure images are sharp and well lit. A photo taken in daylight with a clean background beats an artistic shot nobody can make sense of.
A simple routine
Make it a habit. Snap a before photo and an after photo on every job, and once a week, upload the best two or three. It takes five minutes and builds a profile that sells for you all day. If you want us to review your whole profile, our free audit covers photos, categories, reviews, and the rest.
