Google Reviews for HVAC Companies, Turning Service Calls Into Five Star Proof
By Mohamed Eltoukhy, founder of EVOGENCY ·
When someone's air conditioner dies in July, they don't spend an hour researching. They look at the map results, compare star ratings and review counts, and call. For HVAC companies, reviews aren't a nice extra. They're often the deciding factor between you and the company down the street.
The challenge is that most happy customers never think to leave a review unless someone asks. Here's how to build a habit that asks every customer, every time.
Know your three review moments
HVAC work comes in three flavors, and each one has a natural moment to ask.
After an emergency repair, the customer is relieved and grateful. Ask the same day, ideally before the technician leaves.
After a new system install, the customer just made a big purchase. Ask after the first few days of use, once they've felt the difference.
After a maintenance visit, the customer may not feel much of a change. Ask anyway, and make it easy, because these customers are your most loyal and often happy to help.
Ask every customer, the same way
Google's policies don't allow you to ask only the customers you think are happy, and they don't allow offering discounts or gifts in exchange for reviews. The right approach is simple. Ask everyone, with the same friendly message, and let them say what they really think.
A short text with a direct link to your review page works best. Something like "Thanks for choosing Cool Breeze Air today. If you have a minute, a quick Google review helps other homeowners find us," followed by the link.
Make it part of the technician's routine
Technicians are the people customers actually remember. Train them to mention it naturally at the end of the visit, like "You'll get a text from us with a link for a quick review, it really helps us out." The text follows right after. That personal mention makes a big difference.
Help customers write useful reviews
You can't tell customers what to say, but you can make it easy to be specific. Reviews that mention the service, the town, and the technician by name are far more persuasive to the next reader, and they give Google useful detail too. Customers often do this naturally when they had a great experience with a real person.
Reply to every review
Thank people for positive reviews, mention the service briefly, and keep it human. For negative reviews, respond calmly, acknowledge the issue, and offer to make it right offline. Future customers read your replies as closely as the reviews themselves.
Track it monthly
Watch your review count, average rating, and how many reviews you get per month. A steady pace beats a sudden burst followed by silence, both for customers and for how natural your profile looks.
