SEO for Painting Contractors, Getting Found for Interior, Exterior, and Commercial Jobs
By Mohamed Eltoukhy, founder of EVOGENCY ·
Painting is one of the most crowded local trades. Every town has solo painters, large crews, and handymen who also paint. Homeowners have a lot of choice, and they mostly make it on Google, by looking at photos, reviews, and whether a company seems trustworthy.
Here's how painting contractors can stand out in search.
Separate your services
Painting searches are specific. People search for "interior painters," "exterior house painting," "cabinet painting," "deck staining," or "commercial painting contractor." Each of those is a different buyer with different questions.
Build a page for each service you want more of. A cabinet refinishing page should explain prep, durability, how long the kitchen is out of service, and cost factors. An exterior page should cover surface prep, weather, paint types for your climate, and how long the job lasts.
Answer the questions people actually ask
Homeowners worry about the same things. How long will it take? Do I need to move furniture? Will you protect my floors? What paint do you use? How long will it last? A short FAQ on each service page that answers these in plain language helps customers and gives search engines useful content to understand.
Show your work everywhere
Painting is a before and after business. Put real project photos on your website and your Google Business Profile, labeled with the service and town. Color matters to buyers, so show a variety of finished rooms and exteriors so people can picture their own.
Get the profile right
Choose the most accurate primary category for painting work, list each service, and set your service area to the places you really work. Keep adding photos from recent jobs. A profile that looks active and current earns more calls.
Reviews do the persuading
Painting buyers rely heavily on reviews because quality is hard to judge in advance. Ask every customer for a review when the job is finished and they're admiring the result. Reviews that mention the service, the crew's cleanliness, and the town are especially persuasive.
Commercial work needs its own approach
Property managers, offices, and retail owners search differently and care about scheduling, insurance, minimal disruption, and bigger crews. If you want commercial work, give it its own page with relevant project examples and details about working nights or weekends.
Seasonal content
Exterior painting has busy seasons. A helpful post about the best time of year to paint in your climate, or how weather affects paint, can bring in early planners who book ahead.
